LANGUAGE TRANSLATION PHONE SERVICE

The interpretation unit is available for all DOE staff to use to communicate with parents. 

 

You can use this service over the phone or during virtual conferences as well.  For both methods you can schedule your interpretation conference in advance. 

 

When using interpretation service please keep in mind that the interpreter is going to interpret word by word what you are saying. Please try to say 2 to 3 sentences at a time. 

 

How to access NYC DOE Staff Free Interpretation Unit:

 

Over the phone:

They will ask if you want them to dial a third party.

If you are scheduling in advance, please let them know once they ask you for the language you need assistance with. 

 

 

Virtually:

I have always used Zoom when using this service. I do not know if google classroom has the choice to call into the conference which is the only way the interpretation unit is able to join.
